With the help of his son, Dan proposed to me after we celebrated our 2-year anniversary dinner at home. I was really looking forward to having this dinner because we didn’t get to celebrate our real 2-year anniversary date, which was in January. He had me close my eyes, while he and his son got my ‘gift from the garage’, which was actually just a distraction. My initial thought was that my gift was heavy and big since Dan needed help holding the box. Then, Dan, had me open my eyes, and the first thing I saw was Dan down on one knee. It felt so surreal. He had the ring box opened, and asked ‘Will you marry me?’ I was truly surprised and shocked! Of course, I replied, ‘Yes, yes, yes!’ There was no big and heavy box at all! Just a small box ring! Great things do come in small packages! I called my mom and sister that evening and we celebrated with champagne and chocolate. It was perfect.
We both love the ocean, so choosing a destination wedding and getting married on the beach was an absolute dream come true. Exchanging vows by the ocean while being surrounded by our friends and family was very special for us. We got married on the beach at the pier right before sunset. I had a nontraditional, ‘all white wedding’, where the entire bridal party and guests wore mostly white. The bridesmaids all wore different styles of dresses. The white and tan attire really complemented the sand and ocean. It was a simple and casual beach wedding.
One of my favorite memories: my best friend walking me down the aisle. My father passed away so sharing that moment with my best friend was so special to me. He had always been my by side, and that day was no exception. We both couldn’t believe that the day had finally come!
I also love thinking back on seeing my family and friends on the dance floor. Everyone showed off their best dance moves, from getting low on the floor to ‘Low’ to playing air guitars during ‘Don’t Stop Believin’. Seeing the dance floor filled with our loved ones in white attire and white sunglasses (our wedding favor) was a memory that we will never forget! Our last song of the night was ‘Glad You Came.’ These lyrics stood out to us, “My universe will never the be same. I’m glad you came! So glad you came.” Our universe has changed, now that we are husband and wife, and we were so humbled that our guests shared in our special day. We continued humming this song during the duration of our stay in Mexico!
My favorite part of the dress was the bodice – the detail of the beading, lattice, lace and sweetheart neckline. What drew me to it was the silhouette of the dress. I loved the fitted detailed bodice with the fullness of the tulle and organza with the horsehair finish. Not to mention, the train was absolutely stunning. Once I put it on, it made me feel like I was a mermaid! It was suiting because I was getting married on the beach! I had to have it! I didn’t think I wanted a veil, but decided at the last minute that I’d wear it on the big day. I’m glad that I did because the lace veil complemented my dress so beautifully.
Jacqueline was my consultant and she was MAGNIFICENT! I visited other bridal dress stores, and had not been as impressed by their service or selection. I was absolutely blown away by the level of attention and excellent customer service I received at Wedding Angels. The experience that I had was superb and I was treated like a VIP customer. I knew I would say ‘Yes, to the dress’ here. Initially, I wanted a simple lace gown that would be ideal for a beach wedding. While I liked the dress that I chose, Jacqueline encouraged me to try on a different style. She selected a dress that I would’ve never picked out for myself. She was RIGHT! I fell in love with it!
