Julie and Ryan got married in Cleveland, Ohio on New Years Eve 2017. Their wedding was a gorgeous, sparkly affair and we are so excited to share it with you!
Ryan and I lived in the same dorm freshman year at Ohio University. I definitely noticed him the first day we moved in in September but it took me until May to work up the courage to make my friend give him my number. I invited him to my sorority dance the last week of the school year and the rest is history! After we graduated from OU in 2015, we moved to Georgia for Ryan to pursue his Doctorate at Life University in Marietta. We drove to Florida on his spring break to meet family for a vacation. He proposed on the beach at sunset (bonus: he hired a hidden photographer to capture the whole thing).
Our venue was a historic landmark in Cleveland so it had a lot of ornate details. I wanted to keep my decor elegant and simple, however, with it being New Years Eve I added hints of sparkle, metallic, and shine where I could! The venue was decorated for the holidays with a giant tree and garland lining the staircases and balconies. We added lots black, gold, and silver to make it feel New Years Eve-ish.
It is too hard to choose a favorite memory. The whole day was better than I imagined. Everyone tells you how fast it goes by so I tried to enjoy and remember every moment. If I had to pick it would be our first look. Our venue had lots of balconies so our friends, family, and other hotel guests were able to watch Ryan and I see each other for the first time. It was still intimate for Ryan and I but our wedding guests also got to be included which we loved. They cheered when Ryan did a little spin for me and showed off his tux. Our midnight celebration was one of my favorite moments, too! Our DJ company set up confetti cannons that were a surprise to our guests and made for awesome pictures!
I fell in love with Hayley Paige and all of her dresses that have the horse hair detail on the bottom of the skirt. I always wanted a lace dress but I felt like most of the lace dresses I tired on felt too summery. For some reason, the lace on the azi gown felt like I could wear it on an 11 degree winter day in Cleveland. I also loved the dramatic skirt. Wedding Angels was the second bridal store I went to. My consultant spent so much time with me (really, I stayed over an hour past closing.) Everything from picking out my dress to alterations was easy and worry-free! Wedding Angles was a one stop shop for me. I picked all of my accessories like my veil, belt, and earrings there, too. Everyone there made me feel confident I had the perfect look for my big day.
