Real Bride Spotlight: Emma

Updated: Mar 13, 2020

Emma married the love of her life, Jack, in a beautiful January wedding at Naylor Hall.. Keep reading for a look into their gorgeous wedding and love story!

Jack and I met at our first jobs after graduating college in 2014. It was love at first site in a conference room. It was "sport your college Friday" and Jack went to a small college in Maryland called Mount Saint Mary's so he was sporting a Mount Baseball polo. Very ironically (the school has about 2,000 students and most people have never heard of it unless you're from Maryland) my Uncle Matt went to Mount Saint Mary's and played lacrosse so I recognized the logo and found it to be the perfect excuse to talk to the cute new sales rep. Fast forward to August 2016, we had moved in together and moved to Nashville, and Jack took me on a beautiful day date to the Nashville Botanical Gardens. That's where he popped the question and surprised me even more by having both of our families there from Georgia and Maryland to celebrate! Our latest adventure has been living in the heart of Washington DC with our sweet rescue dog, who's actually named Georgia since that's where this love story all began.

Once we decided on a January wedding I knew I wanted the aesthetic to be classic, elegant, and on theme for a wintry, evening affair. Black and white is always my go to color combination, especially black and white stripes, so it was an easy choice. I love the fullness and simplicity of hydrangeas so I opted to keep our flower arrangements very simple with just white hydrangeas and eucalyptus. Our florist was amazing and used an assortment of beautiful mercury glass vases and candle votives to incorporate some very-January appropriate metallics. We had a lot of fresh greenery throughout the venue, and string lights outside by the cigar and bourbon bar, it was magical. My favorite decor element was definitely the black and white striped table runners on alternating tables throughout the ballroom, it really made my vision come to life.

It's so hard to choose a favorite memory from our wedding day, everything was so magical! I have to say that one of the best parts of the night was our send-off after such a wonderful, perfect day. Everyone was cheering "Jack and Emma" as we walked through a shower of confetti and into this awesome vintage Bentley, the whole crowd started yelling "Schwartz" as we drove away and it just felt like the whole day had been a dream.

My Essence of Australia ballgown was everything I had ever dreamed of and I couldn't have felt more bridal. There were two things I was sure of before shopping for my wedding dress- one was that I wanted a ballgown, the fuller the skirt the better. The second, was that I wanted pockets! I was obsessed with the fact that my dress had pockets and I showed them off all night, I just thought they were so fun. I've always wished to emulate the style of classics like Jackie O, Grace Kelly, and Audrey Hepburn and to me the gorgeous simplicity of my ballgown, with the flowing train and the covered buttons down the back, was spot on-- especially with my raw cut cathedral veil!

From the very beginning of my first appointment trying on dresses with Leslie, my experience with Wedding Angels was truly amazing. It was fun and relaxing, there was no pressure, and she was so knowledgeable about the dresses. The entire staff was so accommodating when it came to my fittings since I was traveling from DC and had to book appointments in advance and rearrange based on my travel schedule. Everyone that I worked with was genuinely invested in making sure that my dress was nothing less than perfect on our wedding day. I would recommend Wedding Angels a million times over to any bride to be.
