Real Bride Spotlight: Miles

Updated: Mar 13, 2020

College sweethearts Miles and her husband James had a beautiful, rustic ceremony in Madison, GA. Read all about their special day!

James and I met our freshman year at Georgia College and started dating during our sophomore year. Jameson claims the first time he ever saw me was at freshman orientation. He was an undeclared major and went directly to the math major room, saying I was the only thing in the whole place that made sense to follow. Here we are, eight years later, married!

Our overall wedding theme was pretty simple - our venue, Empire Mills, is a restored cotton mill so it had a very rustic and industrial vibe to it. I love neutrals and went with taupe, gold & cream as my colors.

My favorite memory from our wedding day was, was walking out of the building after the ceremony, looking at each other and going, "YEAH, WE DID IT!" I was so excited in that moment because everything was finally official. After the ceremony, we immediately walked to the back of our venue property to take pictures with our photographer and a train drove by (what are the odds of a train ever seeing a bride & groom?!) It was awesome!

As for my dress, I honestly loved everything about it. Going into my search, I knew I wanted something that would stand out and be memorable. My gown had a little bit of everything including lace, long sleeves, an open back, and buttons. But, if I did have to pick just one favorite part of the dress, it would have to be the train.

I started dress shopping once I had my wedding venue chosen, as to be sure it would completely fit into the mood of the day. Wedding Angels was actually the last place I went to. I had heard so many great things from friends that had gone there. I ended up coming back for a second visit to attend a trunk show where I said yes to the dress!

My Wedding Angels experience was hands-down one of the coolest experiences I've had. I was back and forth between two dresses...but definitely knew which one was "the one" after I tried it on again. Martine even clipped my dress for me and was there when I finally said "yes". I also loved that it was a preview gown, so I knew that no one else would have it!

My husband James also used Wedding Angels for the menswear and agrees that the experience was really easy and the tuxes looked awesome!
