Real Bride Spotlight: Jessica

Updated: Mar 13, 2020

Jessica and Lewis were married September 3, 2017 at the Grand Hyatt in Buckhead. Read more about Jessica and Lewis’ elegant wedding day.

Our paths actually crossed three times before we actually went on a first date. Originally, we met at a charity event for Shalva, which is an Israeli organization providing aid to families with disabled children. The event was at the Hudson Terrace in New York City on July 10, 2012 and my sorority sister brought me so that I could meet a few Jewish guys. Lewis and I were introduced briefly, but I ended up talking to other people during the party and he ended up talking to a different girl in my sorority. Lots of us out there looking for a nice Jewish boy! I actually remember her talking about him, he worked in Finance, from the Upper East Side, and I thought, “not my type!” Fast forward to March 2014. I swore I would never do a dating app, wanting to meet someone naturally and not through my iPhone screen. I gave in and downloaded Hinge. I matched with Lewis and we started messaging. I even gave him my cell phone number so we could text. But, to be honest, I was not really ready to date yet. I was still figuring out things from a past relationship and I just downloaded the app as a distraction. I never saved Lewis in my phone, or responded to his last few texts.

Here we are again, but now it is July 2014. A solid four months have gone by and now I am truly out on the dating scene. I decide to download Tinder and shortly thereafter I matched with Lewis. He messaged me in the app instantly saying “It’s been awhile.” Now, if you know me, you know I have a horrible memory. I cannot remember anything, so naturally, I had no recollection of him. I respond, “have we met before?” And Lewis, who has the most unbelievable memory, plays it cool by saying “Oh, you looked familiar.” We message a bit more and I give him my phone number. He texted me and I realized, wow I have texts in my phone from this person, I guess I have spoken to him before, but where did we meet?

We had our first date on August 4, 2014 at a Mexican restaurant in our neighborhood. And on January 21, 2017 we got engaged!

Our overall wedding look and feel described in a few words was: romantic, elegant, beautiful and chic. The colors were shades of white, blush and light pink. The colors were incorporated in the floral arrangements throughout the space by our amazing florist, Andy Beach. We also included gold, silver and mirrored elements wherever possible.

My favorite memory from my wedding day was our first dance. We ran out of time and never took dance lessons, so decided to make up something at the last minute. Our first dance was to the song “Lovely Day” by Bill Withers and the chorus goes …“then I look at you, and the world is alright with me, just one look at you, and I know it’s going to be, a lovely day…” During the “look at you” parts of the song we did this little dance and point at each other move and, the crowd loved it! Everyone was asking where we took dance lessons!

I absolutely loved my dress! Going into the dress shopping experience, I knew I wanted something different, and that no one else had. I did not want to wear a dress that was even a little bit similar to anything I had ever seen. Initially, I thought I would want a two-piece dress with a sliver of my midriff showing. My amazing Wedding Angels bridal consultant, Ellen, brought me the Dallas Gown by Blush by Hayley Paige to try on. Wedding Angels had just received the dress that morning as it was part of the new season of dresses just released. It was a one piece dress, but the midriff area was lace, giving it a two-piece look and feel. Right when I put on the dress I knew it was the one.
